JH Memorial Cup 2026

The 2026 Jeremy Hodges Memorial Cup for 2026 is done and dusted for what was a good weekend of racing. This event is a great halfway point for the year is a very special event to remember the life of Jeremy Hodges who used to race in Series X3 NSW. Matt went into the weekend hoping to come away with some good results and try a few things with the car setup before Queensland.

Race 1:

Matt qualified P7 which was a very solid result after the delay to the start of the day but unfortunately had to start at the back for race 1 due to the front ride height being to low. Matt made a strong start from P21 moving up to 13th by the end of lap 1. Matt continued to chip away at it moving into P7 before some started to make pitstops. Matts strategy was pretty simple, stay out as long as possible and hope for a safety car, and it paid off! Safety car came out with about 35 minutes to go. This allowed Matt to make his 3 minute pit stop losing less time to people around him. Matt came out of the stop in 5th, a position he would hold for the rest of the race to bring home a strong result moving up 16 positions.

Race 2:

Unfortunately race 2 was shorted from 1 hour to 30 minutes after a nasty crash in the Super Mini race not long before race 2 was meant to start. It was good to hear that the driver involved ended up being ok, and after some delay we got underway for race 2 under lights. Matt started P5 making an alright getaway but fell back to P7. Matt continued to chip away at it again electing to make his stop as late as possible. Another clean pitstop and Matt came out in 6th. From there it was pretty uneventful with Matt crossing the line 6th but with post race penalties moved to 5th which was a great way to end the day.

Overall, it was a very strong weekend. Matt made gains with the car ready for the second half of the sprint championship. Preperation continues now for Queensland with head of the motor sent off to get rebuilt to try get some more power. A huge thank you goes to Matt’s sponsors for their continued support:

313 Automotive, MediSleep, AYE Tech, Pro Detailing Sydney, VMedical and HT Motorsport. Special thanks as well to Series X3 NSW and MRA for a fantastic race meeting.

Next Up:

At the end of July, Matt will make the trip north to Queensland Raceway for the State of Origin round with Series X3 QLD. Matt can't wait to get up there for what will be another new track for him that he has always wanted to race at. Details about the round will be posted as we receive them. Can't wait and see you all there!
