Matthew Hansford-Taylor is a young up and coming driver aiming to make it to the top. Matthew is 19 years old and is from New South Wales. Matthew has been racing from the young age of 7 and in his time he has experienced all the highs and lows in motorsport. In Matthew's time in motorsport he has won State Championships, raced at the front end of national competition and scored many wins and podiums in many series around New South Wales and Australia. 

 

Matthew's first race came in Orange back in 2015 where he put it on pole and came third for the meeting. Since then Matthew has been privileged enough to race for Dino Karts Australia from 2016 to 2018. From 2019 to 2022, Matthew raced Gillard Karts under Karting Addiction Australia where he was able to score multiple strong results.

 

2025 was a very successful year for Matthew being his first year in cars. Matthew competed in  the NSW Hyundai Excel Series where he walked away with the rising star award as well as the rookie of the year award. To top this off Matthew was then selected to represent NSW in the Dunlop Destiny Program which will take place on January 19th up at Norwell Motorplex.

In 2026, Matthew will be competing in the New South Wales Hyundai Excel Series - Series X3 NSW. Matthew will be competing in his #7 Excel, and looks to improve through the year in his second year in cars. Matthew will also be competing at Bathurst on the Easter weekend in the Excel support class to the Bathurst 6 Hour which will tick off one of his bucket list racing items

 

Matthew's goal one day is to make it to the Supercars Championship. He also has ambitions to race at GT level. He will continue to push and do what it takes to make it to the top and we hope he will get there one day.
