Series X3 NSW - 2026
Round 2
Round 2 of the 2026 Series X3 NSW Championship is done and dusted for what was a difficult weekend for Matt. The weekend started strong with Matt making gains across Friday testing before a strong qualifying on Saturday morning. Unfortunately the races that followed didn't quite go to plan
Race 1:
Matt started the weekend off strong qualifying in P5. This was a strong result by Matt with both him and the car in a good window for the races. Matt made an ok start before a moment at turn 4 on lap 1 put him to the back of the field. Matt was able to keep the car going and recover to P16 which wasn't bad considering race 1 was the shortest of the weekend.
Race 2:
Matt started race 2 out of P16 knowing he had a good car under him and could move forward from there. Matt made a good start moving up a few positions on the opening lap. Matt continued to move forward until a racing incident damaged the front end leaving the front bumper hanging. This hindered Matt and his progress finishing race 2 in P11
Race 3:
Matt was able to get the car fixed up to start P11 for race 3. Unfortunately just before the race started Matt discovered that the exhaust had cracked just under the manifold which hurt his straight line speed. This left Matt 10-15kph down in straight line speed which made making progress hard. Despite this he was able to bring it home in P9.
Considering how the weekend started, it definitely wasn't how Matt wanted it to go. Matt showed strong pace and felt he could have been up there fighting for a podium. Despite this there a still positives to take away for the rest of the championship knowing both him and the car are more then capable of being in the top 5 fight. A huge thank you goes to Matt’s sponsors for their continued support: 313 Automotive, MediSleep, AYE Tech, and VMedical. Matt is also excited to welcome new sponsor, Pro Detailing for the rest of the season who are the best in the business when it comes to car detailing. Special thanks as well to Series X3 NSW and MRA for a fantastic race meeting.
Next Up:
In a little over a week from now its the big one, Bathurst! Matt is super excited to get to Bathurst and tick off a bucket list track to race at. A very big thank you goes to CERA for the opportunity and we can't wait to see how the weekend goes! Event details will be posted across Matts socials for those who can't make it, otherwise see you there!
